Club Championships - Third Weekend Results

A Grade Men’s Singles: Andrew Ganasen (Champion) and Kishan Vyas (Runner-Up)
B Grade Mixed Doubles: Susan Ko & Andrew Smith (Runners-Up) and Peter Lawrence & Gabby Torbey (Champions)
C Grade Men’s Singles: William Chen (Runner-Up) and Marco Sulzbacher (Champion)

Unfortunately, the second weekend (10-11 May) of the UQ Tennis Club's Annual Championships was disrupted by rain and none of the scheduled events were completed.  On the third weekend (17-18 May), despite a delayed start because of heavy rain on the Saturday morning, the weather cleared and the tournament was completed.

The Annual Club Championships provided an opportunity for members to get some top competition and play real matches.  As with all Club competitions, events were offered at multiple levels.  

The match of the tournament was a C Grade Men’s Singles Semi-Final where William Chen defeated Peter Lawrence 6/7 7/5 [10-0] in a marathon that took nearly three hours over 2 Sundays. 

The results for the events completed on the third weekend were:
A Grade Men's Singles – W Andre Ganasen, R/U Kishan Vyas
B Grade Mixed Doubles – W Gabby Torbey & Peter Lawrence, R/U Susan Ko & Andrew Smith
C Grade Men's Singles – W Marco Sulzbacher, R/U William Chen
