As part of Tennis Australia’s 1 Point Slam community events, the UQ Tennis Club is set to host it’s very own 1 Point Slam on Sunday, 23 November (4 to 6 p.m.).
This event is for all players of all standards and is free to enter.
The event will see locals of all ages and abilities hit the court vying for a spot in the State Championships event to be held on Saturday 20 December. The winner of the State Championships event will move through to the AO 1 Point Slam Main Draw.
“The AO 1 Point Slam is tennis at its most exciting – one point, one shot at glory. It’s fast, unfiltered and open to everyone,” Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said.
“This event is the ultimate grassroots-to-Grand Slam experience. We want to see local 1 Point Slam events taking place around Australia so that our entire tennis loving community has a shot to live out their Grand Slam dream on the biggest stage this January.
“Every player has the chance to win their way to take on the Pros including world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz under the lights of Rod Laver Arena and a chance to win $1M, so there are more than a million reasons to pick up a racquet and get involved. Clubs, associations, schools and coaches that host a 1 Point Slam have the chance to win a $50,000 grant if the player representing them goes on to win.”
The AO 1 Point Slam Main Draw will feature 48 pros, celebrity wildcards and amateurs from across Australia on Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 14 January 2026. The eight state champions will win return airfares to Melbourne, two nights’ accommodation and the ultimate AO Player experience.
AO 1 Point Slam community hosts will win a $5000 tennis grant if their event winner wins the State Championships event. The club will also go into a draw for the chance to be represented by a player in the AO 1 Point Slam Main Draw. The host represented by the eventual champion – pro, amateur or wildcard – will win a $50,000 tennis grant.
Entry is free but entries must be lodged on-line here. Entries close on 20 November.
To enter, players must have a Competitive Player Profile and Tennis ID.
