Welcome New UQ Students

The UQ Tennis Club has been around for awhile - 109 years in fact.  The Club was established in 1911, the year teaching commenced at The University of Queensland.

The Club is a volunteer-run, community-oriented, not-for-profit, sporting organization.  It is based upstairs in the Tennis Pavilion at the UQ Sport Tennis Centre on Blair Drive.

Although a prime focus of the Club is the UQ community (students, staff & graduates), membership and programs are open to the general public.

The Club's programs are all community-oriented and are run at cost price.  All the non-competitive programs and most of the competitive programs are open to non-members (but discounts apply for members).

The Club's programs are designed to cater for players of all standards and with varying time commitments.  Most competition starting and finishing dates fit in with UQ semester dates.  As all non-competitive programs and all but one competitive program are played entirely on the UQ St Lucia campus, the Club's Tennis programs are ideal for students living in on-campus residential colleges.

The Club's major programs and events are:

Team Fixtures Internal Fixtures on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday nights (members only)
Teams competing in Brisbane-wide Fixtures on Wednesday nights (members only)
Singles Fixtures Tuesday nights & Sunday mornings (between Team Fixtures seasons)
Social Tennis Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis
  Thursday Night Social Tennis
Practice Wednesday Night Practice
Tournaments University Open Tennis Championships
UQ Student & Staff Championships (students & staff only)
  Annual Club Championships (members only)
12 Club Tournaments & Club Grand Prix
